About Me

I've always been curious about the world, my environment, both inner and outer

From a young age I've always loved music, motion, movement, making things, being outside, being free

After a number of years moving around Canada and meandering through various studies, I went on to study drawing, sculpture and painting, which eventually brought me to the UK on a scholarship for postgraduate studies. I decided to stay in Britain and go back to Canada for visits whenever I can

My current projects involve drawing, painting, sculpture & writing

My work follows a meandering line, recording events, explorations, perceptions

• when drawing, I follow a line with ink, finely observing what I see & sense moving in front of me
• when painting I explore in oil
• when making sculpture... I work in wire, wire mesh, things that involve sewing/metal-working skills when I was younger I hammered and welded steel, building sculpture as if my very life depended on this activity
• when writing, I work on short text pieces, paragraphs, visual poems, short stories, articles

Born in Toronto, Canada. I've lived and studied in Toronto, Ottawa, Edmonton and Vancouver, Canada; I moved to the UK in 1994, first to study in Dundee, Scotland, and then to London, where I now live and work

I hold a liberal arts and general science degree from University of Alberta (BA, Art and English); diploma from Ontario College of Art and Design (AOCA, General and Experimental Arts); postgrad degree from Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art at University of Dundee (MFA, Sculpture and Public Art)

In addition to my art practice, I've had a number of parallel careers, most recently as a freelance editor and proofreader, working on exhibition catalogues and a medical journal
